An Improbable Correspondent
A theatre project that works across the
international boundaries of Bulgaria, Germany and UK. Actors, take part as
Improbable Correspondents, acting as characters based on Elias Canetti's review
of 50 characters Earwitness, to begin an on-line pen-pal
relationship with each other.
We will invite an online audience to view this exchange and gain snippets of insight into the culture of partner countries. However this insight will come under the influence and heavy filter of the actors behaving as characters who have an extraordinary individuality.
Thus the dialogue will be imbued with the inspirations, prejudices, wiles and woes of individual psychological types such as The Never-Must and The Man-Splendid Woman
The audience will view the piece in the same way that one might view a developing blog and each week the actors will be given a specific task to execute, in the public domain and as a piece of live art. This action will give the actors material to write about and give them an opportunity to develop a real audience interaction as opposed to the audience who will follow the development of a new script on-line.
Audiences will be invited to private Skype Improvisations and to 'correspond' via social networking sites, with the Canetti figures.
The pilot took place in February 2011 - click here to see the video of the pilot.
If you are interested in taking part as an actor, video artist or audience member please contact info@curiousplanet.org stating the nature of your interest, your age and your experience of improvisation. We are particularly interested in hearing from disabled actors, video artists and arts practitioners.
